“Let’s sing a song with the sound of sewing machines!”
The day before the Dashain which is the biggest festival in Nepal begin, the local seed fair was held in the farm that Dharti Mata is situated in. The event started with a beautiful singing. It was Bimala who was singing the song about the seed fair that was written by herself!
They used a piece of cloth
Bimala is now 33 years old and has been in the Dharti Mata group for five months. She mentioned that she still remembers it was one of her elder friends who told her the knowledge of the period, but at that time, people still regarded it as a dirty and dangerous thing. She said they used a piece of cloth before and even had to worry about where to dry their cloth because it was impossible to dry it outside for everyone can see it!

Bimala said she has only been in the group for a little while, so there are still a lot of things to learn. She hopes that Dharti Mata will last longer and longer and recruit more and more women to work here. So, let’s keep singing this women’s song!
