“I keep learning new things here!”
It’s about five o’clock and nearly sunset. Nirmala just finished the work in studio and came back home. She cut some fresh tomatoes and vegetables which are all planted by herself as dinner. In this village, women all plants something near their house. That’s why Nirmala chose to work here in Dharti Mata. Women can make money and don’t need to leave their home or leave their land.
I helped with the women who suffered from domestic violence
Nirmala is now 33 years old and had been invited to work in a women NGO called WOREC Nepal. She helped with the counselling of women who suffered from domestic violence. After that, she came here to work, and it has been 8 months so far.
My Family Members’ Attitude Toward Menstrual Period Has Changed
Though she still can’t go to public temple in the period now, her family members’ attitude toward menstrual period has changed a lot. In these 8 months, Nirmala is glad that she has been learning and learning, and even been the teacher in a workshop once! She hopes that Dharti Mata family can become bigger and bigger!
